The bear is a national symbol of Russia. There are lots of folk tales about this strong and clever animal. But Russian bears aren’t all the same. The Kamchatka brown bear isn’t like Siberian bears.
Медведь — национальный символ России. Существует множество народных сказок об этом сильном и умном животном. Но русские медведи не все одинаковы. Камчатский бурый медведь не похож на сибирских медведей.
Kamchatka is a wild land of volcanoes, forests and lakes. It is also home to thousands of Kamchatka brown bears. — Камчатка — дикий край вулканов, лесов и озер. Здесь также обитают тысячи камчатских бурых медведей.
Kamchatka’s gentle Giants
The Kamchatka brown bear is very, VERY big. It can weigh more than 450 kg. When it stands up, it can be 2.50 m tall. It is very strong, with big teeth and long, sharp claws.
Unlike Siberian bears, these big animals are usually very peaceful. For most of the year they live in thick forests and eat berries, nuts and roots.
In the summer months, millions of salmon swim up Kamchatka’s rivers from the sea. These fish are the bears’ favourite food. Bears travel hundreds of kilometres to live next to the rivers and catch the salmon. Bears are very good swimmers, and their thick fur keeps them warm in the ice-cold water.
When summer finishes, the bears go back to the forest. There they make a warm den where they can spend the winter.

Камчатский бурый медведь очень, ОЧЕНЬ большой. Он может весить более 450 кг. Когда он встает, его рост может достигать 2,50 м. Он очень сильный, с большими зубами и длинными острыми когтями.
В отличие от сибирских медведей, эти крупные животные обычно очень миролюбивы. Большую часть года они живут в густых лесах и питаются ягодами, орехами и кореньями.
В летние месяцы миллионы лососей заплывают из моря в реки Камчатки. Эта рыба — любимая пища медведей. Медведи преодолевают сотни километров, чтобы жить рядом с реками и ловить лосося. Медведи очень хорошие пловцы, и их густой мех согревает их в ледяной воде.
Когда лето заканчивается, медведи возвращаются в лес. Там они устраивают теплую берлогу, где могут провести зиму.

I like bears because I think they look cute but I know that they can be dangerous. I like other wild animals like tigers and lions because they are beautiful.

There are a lot of tales and stories about bears. For example, the folk tales «Three bears» and » Masha and the Bear». And we all like the stories and cartoons about Vinni the Pooh too.
Есть много различных сказок и историй про медведей. Например, народные сказки «Три медведя» и «Маша и медведь». А также мы все любим истории и мультфильмы про Винни-Пуха.
What wild animals can you see in the part of Russia you live in? — Какие дикие животные обитают в вашем регионе России, где вы живете?

I live in Moscow. In this part of Russia you can meet squirrels, hedgehogs, mice, hares, elks, boars and deer.
Я живу в Москве. В этой части России можно встретить белок, ежей, мышей, зайцев, лосей, кабанов и оленей.
Вариант 2
There are not so many wild animals in the region I live in. Rarely we can see only deers or elks in our forests. Of course there are a lot of hares, foxes and owls in our forests, but usually we can’t see them.
В моем регионе не так много диких животных. Редко можно встретить оленей или лосей в наших лесах. Конечно, есть много зайцев, лис и сов в лесах, но мы обычно мы их не видим.

I live in Central Ural. Many different wild animals like a fox, a wolf, a bear, a deer live here. They sometimes come to villages and small cities because there is not enough food in the forest. Squirrels often live in city parks and forests.
Я живу на Центральном Урале. Здесь обитает много разных диких животных, таких как лиса, волк, медведь, олень. Они иногда приходят в деревни и небольшие города из-за того, что им не хватает еды в лесу. Белки часто обитают в городских парках и лесах.

My favorite animal is a Dolphin. Dolphins live in the ocean. The Dolphin has got a long tail and a big fin at the top. Their skin is grey and white and they have no hair.

My favorite animal is squirrel. It has a very beautiful red fur. Squirrel eats berries, nuts. It lives in a hollow in a tree. The ears of the squirrel are large and elongated, with tassels at the end. Squirrels are very interesting to watch. They quickly jump through the trees and move on the ground. This animal is distinguished by quick wit and agility.
Мое любимое животное — белка. У нее очень красивый рыжий мех. Белка питается ягодами, орехами. Живет в дупле на дереве. Уши у белки большие и удлиненные, с кисточками на конце. За белками очень интересно наблюдать. Они быстро перепрыгивают через деревья и передвигаются по земле. Это животное отличается сообразительностью и ловкостью.

My favorite animal is an African lion. They are about 1 meter tall and their weight can be up to 190 kilograms. They live in groups called prides. There can be from 3 to 40 animals. Lions hunt, raise cubs and defend their territory together. Lions eat meat. They are beautiful, clever and interesting animals.
Моё любимое животное — африканский лев. Их рост составляет около 1 метра, а вес может достигать 190 килограммов. Они живут группами, которые называются прайдами. Там может быть от 3 до 40 животных. Львы вместе охотятся, выращивают детёнышей и защищают свою территорию. Львы едят мясо. Это красивые, умные и интересные животные.
